Through Daniel’s Lens: It Runs In The Family
Hockey isn’t just Canada’s national pastime, it is the passion that unites us all. There have been countless movies made about it including The Mighty Ducks, Mystery Alaska, Keep Your Head Up Kid: The Don Cherry Story and Mr. Hockey: The Gordie Howe Story. There have also been a lot of Canadian teams and players since the dawn of the ‘Original Six’ that have gone on to hockey greatness.
My family are huge hockey fans who depending on who you ask, their alliances as to who their favorite team is will be one of the major three Canadian teams: The Montreal Canadiens, The Toronto Maple Leafs and The Calgary Flames. The Calgary Flames have a personal connection with us as one of the players that strides down that ice is one of our own, Defenceman T.J. Brodie.
With recent news of T.J’s contract extension I thought in this column I would shed light on the family side of the game.
Families also sacrifice a lot spending long times away from their loved ones during the season when they are playing we happily cheer them on and when they lose we mourn at their loss. When we see them again we love chatting about their highest moments from the past season and we wave goodbye as they head back to Training camp.
As for T.J. I could not be happier for him as I know first hand he has worked hard his whole life for this. I know we can expect great things from him.
with a career spanning 6 Teams and an impressive 11 goals and 55 assists in 192 games TJ is An NHL prospect in the making.
