Josh Woodman is a 22-year-old football player from Chatham, Ontario, who played this season for the Western University Mustangs football team.

A Ursuline College Chatham alumni, who also played for the Chatham-Kent Cougars growing up, Woodman had a breakout season, being named an OUA First Team All-Star, and a CIS Second Team All-Star.

Below are Josh Woodman’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions.

1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?

I will never forget winning the Kent Championship in my final year of high school, but my career highlight would definitely being honoured with an All-Canadian status this year although we did not win the championship at Western this year, it was still a very memorable season for me.

2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?

My favourite professional sports team is the New England Patriots. They were the powerhouse team back when I first started getting into football and they quickly became my choice of team. My favourite athlete is Lebron James. He has been since coming into the NBA in 2003 and I believe if he wanted to, he could take the NFL by storm.

3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?

If I could achieve one goal in sports it would be to get a chance at playing football at a professional level.

4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?

My biggest sports influence has been my Grandfather. He was the first to introduce me to the world of sports and teach me how the games were played while watching it with him. He always made sure I had the best equipment for whichever sport I was playing at the time, while at the same time rarely missing a game. I owe so much to him.

5. What do you love most about playing sports?

What I love the most about playing sports are the relationships you form with others. Its amazing to see how sports can bring people together, I have made so many friends throughout my sports career and I wouldn’t trade those friendships for anything.

Five Questions is a feature on the Chatham-Kent Sports Network. We’ll ask athletes from across Chatham-Kent Five Questions, and post their answers every week. If you know an athlete or coach we should question, or you’re an athlete or coach who would like to participate in “Five Questions,” please email us at ian@cksn.ca.
