Fillies Second At Motown Cup
The Kent County Fillies Midget B team took silver this past weekend in Novi, Michigan at the Motown Cup.
To open the tournament, the Fillies defeated Naperville, Illinois 4-1. Anneke Cameron opened the scoring in the second with an assist from Val Gotelaer. Cameron scored her second of the game only a minute later, assisted by Miah St.Pierre. After Naperville made it 2-1, Alanna Schilbe scored for the Fillies from the point, with assists going to Mia Brooks and Adrianna Long to regain Kent County’s two-goal lead. In the 3rd it was all Fillies as Megan Van Mol scored from Jaden Gall to round out the offense. Tori Winters made 23 saves in net.
Facing the Vaughn Flames in their second game, Mia Brooks scored a pair of goals, while Miah St. Pierre had a single, to lead the Kent Fillies to a 3-0 shutout victory.
In their third and final round robin game, the Kent Fillies squared off against the Windsor Wildcats. Kent struggled to find the net, falling 1-0 to Windsor. Winters made 29 saves in the loss.
Advancing to the championship game to again face the Windsor Wildcats, the Fillies again couldn’t solve the Wildcats netminders dropping a 4-0 decision to take home the siver.
