The Wallaceburg Lakers looked like a different team to start the 2014-2015 season. A year prior, it look Wallaceburg over two months to secure their first win.

In the first two months of the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey season, the Lakers secured 5 wins. That total matched their output from all of last season.

That growth unfortunately, all came undone in recent months for the Lakers, as the team has not won a game since October 29, a span of 15 games, and 15 losses.

“Our goal is to make the playoffs, I think it’s realistic, but we’re really young. We’re building something, but it will take time,” said Wallaceburg head coach Ken Shine in a preseason interview with CKSN.

Now, with 11 games remaining in their schedule, and a 7-point gap to make up, the Lakers look as though they’ll miss the playoffs again this season.

In fact, Wallaceburg has finished last each season, missing the playoffs, since 2010-2011 when the team finished first overall in the Great Lakes standings.

Currently the Lakers sit with a 2-21-0-3 record.

Wallaceburg will play Blenheim Sunday, December 28, before hosting Lakeshore Monday, December 29, and then have a week long break before they travel to play the first place Essex 73s January 6.
