Maroons Continue Skid

Chatham-Maroons-Jersey-New-DarkThe Chatham Maroons dropped their third straight game, falling to the Sarnia Legionnaires Thursday night 5-3.

It’s Chatham’s third straight loss since the team was awash in controversy a week ago when head coach Mark Davis left the team, and was replaced by assistant coach Tyler Roeszler.

Chatham got down early, as Riley Babkirk and Jay Clarke both scored for the Sarnia Legionnaires in the first period to make it 2-0.

Steven Szekesy got Chatham on the board in the second period scoring a powerplay goal off a feed from Brennan Rainey, but Sarnia’s Ryan Vendramin answered back with a powerplay marker of his own.

In the third period, Davis Boyer and Brennan Feasey each traded a pair of goal, meaning Chatham would get no closer, falling 5-3.

Feasey and Boyer are the top two scorers in the GOJHL, with Boyer leading the circuit with 47 points in 28 games, while Feasey sits 3-points back with 44.

Chatham is back in action Saturday in Strathroy, and Sunday at home against LaSalle.
