Maroons Headed To All-Star Game
The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League today announced the rosters for the 2014 GOJHL All-Star & Top Prospects Games this week, with multiple Chatham Maroons players slated to compete in the games.
The games will take place on Saturday December 27,at the Waterloo Memorial Recreational Complex in Waterloo, ON, beginning with the All-Star game at 1:30am followed by the Top Prospects game at 5:00pm.
“On behalf of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, I am pleased to announce the rosters for the 2014 GOJHL All-Star & Top Prospects Games which includes 80 of the top prospects eligible from across the GOJHL” said GOJHL Commissioner Chuck Williams in a GOJHL release. “GOJHL fans in attendance will have the opportunity to preview the next wave of junior stars as they compete in front of CIS, NCAA and OHL recruiters and scouts in what will surely be an intense competition.”
Forward Steven Beenackers of Muirkirk will compete in the Top Prospects Game. The 1996 born forward is an Owen Sound Attack draft pick, and the lone Maroons player to be named to the Prospects roster. Levi Tetrault, the Maroons’ 16-year-old this season was named an alternate. Former Chatham-Kent Cyclones goaltender Anthony Hurtubise, who plays for the Lambton Shores Predators was also selected to compete in the game.
For the All-Star game, Trevor Richardson, Brennan Feasey, and Michael Verboom were all chosen to suit up in the game. Defensemen Nate Pietens and Steven Szekesy were selected as alternates. Sarnia’s Cody Trowell, another former Chatham-Kent Cyclones player will also play.
