Last week, the Chatham Maroons were surrounded by a wave of rumours, which ended in their head coach and general manager parting ways with the team.
Since then, the Maroons have struggled, dropping two straight games, including a 3-2 decision Sunday night at home to the St. Thomas Stars.
Zach Grzelewski had a pair of first period goals for the St. Thomas Stars, who beat new Maroons netminder Jake Patterson twice on five shots in the frame.
Trevor Richardson scored Chatham’s lone first period marker, with assists going to Michael Verboom and Steven Szekesy.
In the second period, Jordan Babb scored again for St. Thomas to make it 3-1, before Nate Pietens, assisted by Brett Storr, tallied on the power play to draw the Maroons within one.
Chatham has a busy week ahead facing Sarnia Thursday, Strathroy Saturday, and LaSalle Sunday.
