Ten Swimmers Golden For Blast

Blenheim Blast Swim teamThe Blenheim Blast Swim Team travelled Sunday December 7th the Sherk Centre in Leamington to participate in the December S.E.A.L. Meet. The team swept many first place finishes, with ten swimmers capturing gold, and eight swimmers capturing wins across multiple events.

Brendan Van Herk (15) won the men’s 14 & over 100m Fly (1:04.61), 200m Free (2:07.54) and 200 m I.M. (2:25.23) events, and finished second in the 50m Breast (35.18). Team mate River Pfaff (17) won the 50m Breast in a time of 33.51, and was second in the 100m Fly (1:06.20) and was third in both the 200m I.M. ( 2:44.46) and 200m Free (2:22.40) events.

Shania Van Herk (18) also won three events, winning the women’s 14 & over 50m Breast (41.04), 200m I.M. (5.:40.52) and 200m Free (2:17.88) events. Shania was also second in the 50m Free (29.74), placing just behind teammate Rain Pfaff (150 who won the event in the in a time of 29.72 seconds. Rain also won the 100m Fly (1:14.77) and was second in both the 200 I.M. (2:44.46) and 200 Free (2:22.40).

Delainey Johnson (14) kept the Blast division trifecta style theme going by winning the 50m Fly (36.05), 100m I.M. (1:23.51) and 100m Back (1:22.86) events in the girls 14 & over age category, and placed second in the 100m Free in a time of 1:11.87. 10-year-old Gracin Black also won three events, winning the 10 year old 50m Breast (49.21), 100m Free (1:30.92) and 100m I.M. (1:38.54). Gracin also placed third in the 50m Fly (44.37).

13-year-old Grace Hansen dominated the 13 year old girl’s 100m(1:18.11) and 200m (2:49.38) I.M. events , and placing second in both the 50m Breast (40.34) and 200m Free (2:30.91) events. 12-year-old Abigael Johnston won the 100m Back (1:37.48) and 100m Breast (1:43.17) events in the 12 year old girl’s division. Abigael also placed third in the 100m Free (1:30.04) and was sixth in the 50m Fly.

9-year-old Linnea Mattsson won both the 25m Fly (20.89) and 25m Breast (24.62) events in the 9 year old girl’s category. Linnea had two other top ten finishes in the 25m Back and 50m Free events. 8 year old Lilly Jones won her age group for the 25 m Breast (25.79) and placed second in the 25 m Fly (25.29). Lilly was also seventh in both the 25m Back and 50m Free.

Other podium finishers include 11 year old Holly Reynolds who swam to third place in the girls 50m Back (43.32.) Holly also had other three top ten swims. Karly Crevitts (12) placed third in the 25 m Fly (29.12) and was eighth in the 100m Free.

Zakeri Dorssers had four top ten swims at this meet. Aidyn Harris (11), Morgan Anderson (12) Rebecca Warwick (12) and Olivia Ermers (16) each had three top ten finishes. Derek Shieman (9), Brielle Farrow (9) and Cora Holt (9) each had two top ten performances at the meet. Talia-Rae Farrow (11) also broke into the top ten finishers in the 50m Breast.

The team will travel to Windsor International Training and Aquatic Centre December 12-14 to compete in the Division III Team Championships.
