Torrie Handsor Helping Saints
Averaging 22-minutes per game, Handsor is currently third on the Saints in scoring, averaging 6.8 points per game through the first half of the season.
“College basketball has been great so far,” says Handsor of playing for St. Clair. “There has been a lot of perks to it such as having the opportunity to play in our new Sportsplex, which is a brand new sports facility. But it has also been a lot of hard work balancing school and basketball, but I’ve finally got into a good routine that allows me to be successful in both categories.”
A pre-nursing student, Handsor is also averaging 5.8 rebounds per game, using her six-foot-one frame to her advantage.
“Overall I’ve been pleased with my game play and my time on the court, which has been great for a first year player,” says Handsor. “I’ve been using my height as a big advantage as I lead my team in offensive rebounds.”
Despite her individual success, Handsor wants more for the second half of the season, when her Saints re-take the floor in January, beginning with the Seneca Sting Classic tournament, followed by their second half regular season opener against Lambton College on January 16.
“We’re going into the Christmas break with a 5-4 record which isn’t bad,” explains Handsor. “We are hoping to have a strong start going back into it. It is very important, especially with some big games coming up after the break.”
