Vote For The 2014 Chatham-Kent Female Athlete Of The Year
With 2014 coming to a close, it’s time to look back at the year’s top performers. We’re looking to name our 2014 Chatham-Kent Male and Female Athlete’s of the Year, and we’re opening the voting up to you.
There are two ways to vote, click the poll below, or on our homepage, and comment below. A click on the poll counts as one vote, and a comment counts as one vote, giving every reader up to two votes per computer.
Next week, we’ll narrow it to our final four and let you vote again. When the New Year arrives, we’ll announce our Chatham-Kent Male and Female Athletes of the Year for 2014. Make sure you share this post, email to friends, and rally your communities to vote for your hometown hero.

Is the female athlete of the year only open to girls still in high school? What about our girls playing at university or college level on this list?
No definitely open to all age groups. Breanne Nicholas, Bailey Walker, Sydnee Nolan, and Ashley Goure are all in the University age bracket.
Last year we had several University athletes, such as York’s Shauney Fischer, involved in the voting.

Being a longtime rugby player and father to another candidate I am incredibly proud of all 3 girls in the rugby field of vote. I must say though Brianne is without question a superior athlete and has a god given talent that can not be coached. I am a rugby fan and cheer on syd and queens first and foremost but always cheer on Brianne because she is magical

This past year she won a national Gold in Jr womens lacrosse ,
she was picked as a Canadian all star at that national tournament
She won a provincial gold with the Intermediate Boys Wallaceburg Griffins lacrosse team
She was the trainer for the silver medal winning Intermediate Girls Wallaceburg Griffins
She is very active in lacrosse in Wallaceburg as a referee , a volunteer at the summer Lacrosse camp
And finally stepped between the pipes for the Wallaceburg Red Devils
Delainey Johnson is not only a star on the track and in the pool she is a star in life. A truly wonderful girl!

I vote for Breanne Nicholas. She had an exceptional rugby season and continues to practise for the Las Vegas sevens rugby tournament, working hard to represent Canada at the upcoming Vegas event.
