The Blenheim Blades hosted the Mooretown Flags in a rare Friday night home game this weekend, and the team made the most of it, taking a 3-2 victory, and securing their playoff opponent.

Dylan Smith, Tyler Boughner, and Nolan Vandenboorn scored for the Blades in their win Friday night, which guaranteed they’ll finish either 4th or 5th in the Great Lakes Junior C standings, and will play the Alvinston Flyers in the opening round of the Great Lakes playoffs.

With the Wallaceburg Lakers eliminated, the Mooretown Flags will face the first place Essex 73s in round one.

The Wheatley Sharks, who finished 7th, are slated to place the Amherstburg Admirals, while the 6th place Dresden Kings will play the 3rd ranked Lakeshore Canadiens.

Friday night, Lakeshore beat Dresden 8-4 to close out the Kings’ regular season. Ross Krieger, Derek Daly, Kevin Ritzer, and Dede Cato scored for Dresden in the loss.
