Five Questions With Torrie Handsor
A graduate of Wallaceburg District Secondary School, Handsor is in her freshman season with the St. Clair College Saints women’s basketball team.
Below are Torrie Handsor’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions:
1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?
One of my career highlights was the summer of 2013 when I was on the St Clair Region Girls Basketball team playing in the Sumer Games at York University. There was many different sporting events involved and we had opening ceremonies and lighting of a torch much like what you would see if you were ever in the Olympics. It was a great feeling to be involved in an event like this.
2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?
I really like Michael Jordan not just for his great playing ability, but because he once never made a team in high school which was a similar experience that I also had. He did not get discouraged by this and kept playing for his love of the game.
I have to add that Calvin Johnson from the Detroit Lions would be a favourite of mine as well for his quick moves and jumping ability.
3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?
It would be such a great accomplishment if I could make the all-star team in my Rookie year at St Clair College.
4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?
One of my sports influence would have to be my old high school coach Janine Day, she knew what I was capable of and worked with me to achieve that goal. No matter how hard she pushed me I knew it was going to be worth it in the end.
5. What do you love most about playing sports?
I would have to say meeting new people, because after a while they feel like they’re your family.
