It had been 18 games, spanning back to October since the Wallaceburg Lakers found themselves in the win column. Wednesday looked to be the game to change this pattern, after the Lakers jumped out to an early 4 goal lead against the Amherstburg Admirals, but it wasn’t to be, as the Admirals fought back to win.

In fact, Amherstburg scored 7 straight goals, extending Wallaceburg’s losing streak to 19 games with a 7-4 decision.

The Lakers tore out of the gate Wednesday, scoring four goals in the opening minutes of the first period. Cory Lucier, Jacob Theoret, Lucais Meyskens, and Brock Daugherty all scored in the first, with two goals coming on the powerplay.

As the period came to a close, Amherstburg’s Ryan Alexander scored with 22 seconds remaining in the frame, and the Admirals never looked back.

Wallaceburg now has a week to regroup before hosting the Wheatley Sharks January 14.
