Leggatt To Speak At Hall Dinner, Inductees Named
The Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame finalized their plans for their 2015 induction ceremony, which is scheduled to take place January 31 at the UAW Hall in Wallaceburg.
Former PGA golfer Ian Leggatt, a Canadian, will be the guest speaker for the night. Leggatt has one PGA Tour title to his resume, winning the Tucson Open in 2002.
The Cambridge, Ontario product also won one Nationwide Tour Tournament, and represented Canada three times at the World Cup of Golf before retiring from the sport in 2009 due to injuries. Leggatt currently works with Sportsnet as a golf analyst, and is the Director of Golf at The Summit Golf and Country Club.
The Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame also announced their permanent inductees for the evening.
They are, Andy Johnston (Male Athlete – Eldon Griffith Memorial Award), Wendy (Shaw) Ursel (Female Athlete – Marion and Bill Chinnick Memorial Award of Excellence), Bob DeKoning (Builder Inductee – Mike Childs Memorial Award of Excellence), Bill Davis (Coach/Official – Ray Aarssen Memorial Award of Excellence), and the 1960-61 WOSSA Senior Boys Volleyball Championship team.
As well, Shane Outridge will receive the Ray Aarssen Hall Of Fame Scholarship for 2014. Outridge graduated from Wallaceburg District Secondary School last year, and now studies at Western University.
