The Blenheim Blades will advance to the second round of the Great Lakes Junior C playoffs, after eliminating the Alvinston Flyers in six games.

Nolan Vandenboorn led the way for the Blenheim Blades, scoring a pair of first period goals for the Blades en route to a 5-3 series clinching victory.

Derek Muzzatti also scored in the opening period for the Blades, helping them hold a 3-2 lead, which they would carry through a scoreless second period and into the third.

In the third, Alvinston tied things up only minutes into the frame.

Then, with less than 4-minutes remaining in the game, Matt Clark scored what would stand as the game winning and series deciding goal. The Blades would add an empty netter off the tape of Kirk McKillop to secure the win.

Blenheim will now wait to see the outcome of the Dresden Kings’ series to learn who their next opponent will be. Should Dresden win, the Blades will face the Amherstburg Admirals. If the Lakeshore Canadiens win, Blenheim will face the Essex 73s.
