After falling behind for the third straight game, things looked dismal for the Blenheim Blades on Thursday night. The Blades however, showed they had fight, completing a comeback in overtime, to push the Alvinston Flyers to the brink with a 3-2 victory in the game, and a 3-2 series lead.

Alvinston’s Clint Rose and Andrew Morgan were first on the board, scoring in the third period to open the scoring after both goaltenders kept things tied 0-0 through two periods.

Midway through the third period, Kirk McKillop scored to pull the Blades within one. Assisting on the goal were Bryan Boersma and Matt Clark.

Minutes later, Teddy McGeen scored to tie the game 2-2. Boersma picked up his second helper of the game, while Dylan Smith also assisted.

In overtime, just when it looked like one extra frame wouldn’t be enough, Kirk McKillop scored his second of the game to put an end to things. McKillops winner, which came at 16:50 of OT, assisted by McGeen and Clark, puts Blenheim one win away from advancing.

Blenheim will have a chance to close out the series Friday night in Alvinston.
