Blast Medal At WOSA
15 year old Rain Pfaff won gold in the women’s 15 & over 200m Back in a time of 2:27.36. Rain won silver with her time of 1:08.62 in the 100m backstroke, and completed her medal collection with a bronze medal in the 200m Breast in a time of 2:52.51. Rain had four other finishes in the top ten, placing sixth in both the 200m I.M. and 50m Free, seventh in the 100m Free and ninth in the 50m Breast. Rain also achieved a Provincial time in her 100m Breast (1:18.16), however was ineligible to swim in the finals of that event at WOSA due to de-qualifying time restrictions.
Brendan Van Herk (15) won bronze in the 400m I.M. in a time of 4:48.10. He had six other events with finishes in the top ten , placing fifth in both the 200m Fly and Back, seventh in both the 100m Fly and 400m Fly, and ninth in both the 50m Back and 100m Breast. Since Brendan had numerous provincial and national times he was ineligible to swim in the finals of many races due to de-qualifying time restrictions.
Gracin Black won silver in the boys 10 year old 50m Breast in time of 47.23. Gracin was also fourth in the 100m Fly, and placed ninth in the 200m I.M.
18 year old Shania Van Herk had eight performances in the top ten, finishing fourth in each of the 50m Fly (29.79), 100m Free (59.37) and 200m I.M. (2:31.71) events. She was fifth in the 50m Free, sixth in both the 50m and 200m Back events, seventh in the 100m Back and ninth in the 200m Free.
13 year old Grace Hansen placed fourth in the 100m Breast in a time of 1:23.80, fifth in the 200m I.M. and seventh in the 50m Breast. Grace was also ninth in the 100m Free and tenth in the 200m Breast, River Pfaff (18) also narrowly missed the podium with a fourth place finish the 50m Free in a time of 25.92. He was fifth in the 200 I.M., eighth in the 50m Breast and ninth in the 100m Back.
Other Blast swimmers who qualified to attend WOSA are Jill Clendenning, Talia-Rae Farrow, Delainey Johnson, Abigael Johnston and Emma Pegg.
