The Lambton-Kent Cardinals girls hockey team lost a heartbreaker Thursday night against North Lambton in the LKSSAA semi-final.

After Alanna Schilbe scored in regulation for Lambton-Kent, the Cardinals couldn’t muster another goal. Tied 1-1 after regulation, and remaining tied through overtime.

Needing a shootout, the first two North Lambton shooters were able to beat Dresden netminder Tori Winters who has been the backbone of the LKCS team all season. The Cardinals however couldn’t even things up, giving North Lambton the 2-1 win. They’ll advance to play LCCVI after the Central Lambton school defeated Ridgetown 5-2 in the other semi-final.

On the boys side, the Lambton-Kent Cardinals joined the UCC Lancers girls team as the only local squads to advance, as the Cardinals edged SCITS 3-2.

Mike Jennen, Brant Kuipers, and Garrison Renders had the goals for the Cardinals.
