The South Kent Chiefs Juvenile team have taken the first step toward repeating as OMHA champions, sweeping their first round playoff series against the Mooretown Flags 3-0.

The Chiefs won their opening game in against Mooretown 6-2, followed by a 7-5 win in Ridgetown the next night, before finishing the series out last Friday in Mooretown. The South Kent Chiefs took the final game 6-3.

Mario Naclerio opened the scoring for the Chiefs with Brady Shepherd and Zach Horvath assisting. Matt Laidlaw scored next with Eric Oulds getting the helper. Finishing off the scoring in the first period was Owen Welch. Hudson Mallett and Blake Padbury chipped in with the helpers.

Brodie Vanboxtel opened the scoring in the second, with the assist going to Mallett. Eric Oulds scored his first of two on the night to end the second. Drawing the assist was Blake Padbury.

To open the third period, Oulds scored his second goal of the game to make the score 6-2. Assisting on the Chiefs’ final marker were Zack Horvath and Brodie Vanboxtel.

The Chiefs will now play their OMHA semi-final series against a strong Glanbrook team. Game times and dates have yet to be finalized.
