Steven Szekesy is a 20-year-old hockey player from Belle River, Ontario, who currently plays for the GOJHL’s Chatham Maroons.

A former St. Clair College student, Szekesy was named the Chatham Maroons captain midway through the 2014-2015 season.

Szekesy, who is an offensive defenseman, has multiple GOJHL Top Prospects and All-Star game appearances to his name. A former Windosr Jr Spitfires ‘AAA’ player, Szekesy is in his fourth and final season with the Chatham Maroons.

Below are Steven Szekesy’s answers to CKSN’s Five Questions:

1. What is your career sports highlight/top memory?

My career highlight is scoring a hat trick against the Strathroy Rockets two years ago.

2. Who is your favourite professional sports team and athlete?

My favourite team is the Detroit Red Wings and my favourite player as of now is Shea Weber.

3. If you could achieve one thing/goal in sports, what would it be?

If I could achieve one thing in sports it would be winning a Sutherland Cup with the Chatham Maroons in my last season with them.

4. Who has been your biggest sports influence and why?

My biggest sports influence would be my father. He has always been my support and my go to for pointers, He always has an answer and explanation for all my questions and worries!

5. What do you love most about playing sports?

The thing I love most is coming together on a team and gelling with a group of 23 guys and going game to game knowing we all have each others backs.
