Several Wallaceburg Swimmers To OFSAA

After dominated the local LKSSAA swim meet earlier this month, the Wallaceburg Tartans won six gold, including four individual medals, and two relay wins at the SWOSSAA swimming championships in Sarnia to quality several swimmers for OFSAA.

Chelsey Johnson, who was one of the schools top swimmers last season, finishing 5th at OFSSA, again booked her ticket to the top high school swimming competition in Ontario, winning the 50m backstroke and 100m IM.

Megan Maxim won the 50m butterfly event at the Junior girl level, while Tallie Laprise won the junior girls 100m freestyle, and also came second in the 50 free.

The top individual winner for Wallaceburg was Kris Chauvin. Chauvin was the junior boys champion in the 50m free and 100m freestyle, as well as the 50m backstroke event.

Wallaceburg’s Junior girls team was also dominant in the relays. The team of Chelsey Johnson, Tallie Laprise, Megan Maxin, and Amanda Metayer won the freestyle relay event. Johnson, Maxim, and Laprise, grabbed another gold along with Alyssa Wadsworth in the relay medley.

The OFSAA swimming championships take place March 3-4 in Etobicoke, Ontario. All winners qualified for OFSAA.
