The Chatham Thunder U-19 ringette team won Gold over the weekend at the Kitchener Ringette Tournament.

In round robin play, Chatham defeated Ayr 8-1 to open their tournament. Kara Hueniken scored a hat trick, while Tess Scaman had a pair of goals in the win. Hannah Doforno, Jordan Dziver, and Kesley Zondag had the other goals for Chatham, while Vivian Dowdall chipped in with two assists.

In their second game of the tournament, Chatham played to a 5-3 win over Whitby. Hueniken, Dziver, and Zondag again had goals for the Chatham Thunder, while Brooke Marchand and Pyper Copeland also scored.

The Thunder continued to roll against Elora-Fergus, edging their competition in a 3-2 decision. Tristen Stewart, Courtney Roberts, and Hueniken had the goals in the win.

Playing their last game of the round robin, Chatham played to a 3-3 tie against Forest. Hannah Doforno scored a pair of goals, while Zondag had the other.

With an undefeated record following round robin play, the Chatham Thunder U19 would advance to the final, again facing Elora-Fergus. Hannah Doforno would again score a pair, while Roberts and Dziver also hit the scoresheet to lift the Thunder to a 4-2 win and the tournament title.
