Chatham’s Brendan Harrogate has been spitting venom for the LaSalle Vipers this post season. Luckily for the local hockey player and his GOJHL team, it’s all been ending up in the back of his opponents’ net.

Harrogate, an underage rookie who turned 17 in mid-February is the leading scorer for his Junior B club, who currently leads their second round GOJHL Western Conference playoff series 3-2 over Sarnia.

In game five on Thursday, Harrogate scored a second period powerplay goal, and assisted on the game tying goal with only three seconds left in the third period, before LaSalle won the game 4-3 in overtime.

His two point night gave Harrogate both the team lead in goals and points in the postseason with 5 goals, 7 assists, and 12 points through 9 games.

A Mississauga Steelheads draft pick in the 7th round of the OHL draft last season, Harrogate missed the opening weeks of the 2014-2015 season with an ankle injury. When he returned, he instantly made an offensive impact with the Vipers, scoring 21 goals and adding 17 assists for 38 points in 37 games.

Last season, Harrogate played for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget ‘AAA’ team.

LaSalle will look to close out their second round series against the Sarnia Legionnaires Saturday in LaSalle at 7pm. Should a game seven be necessary, it would return to Sarnia Sunday at 7:10pm.
