A London, Ontario television station was denied access last night to the Chatham Maroons and London Nationals playoff game at Chatham Memorial Arena.

The game was a possibly deciding contest between the Chatham Maroons and London Nationals in the GOJHL’s opening playoff round. Chatham won the game 4-2 to force a game six Saturday in London.

Rogers TV Cable 13 London reported on their London Nationals focused Twitter page @RTVNationals last night that they had been denied access to cover the game with the intention of providing highlights for their local station.

“No video highlights of tonight’s game between the @LondonNationals & @GoMaroonsGo. We’ve been told we’re not allowed in the building. @GOJHL” Tweeted the Rogers TV account.

The station, which broadcasts London’s home games on Wednesday nights, was not given a reason for being denied access to the arena or why video was not allowed.

“We’re not exactly sure why as we weren’t given a reason for the decision. So no video highlights of the LDN/CHA,” continued the Tweets.

“We were just told by the team “no video”” said another response.

The incident sparked conversation across social media. CKSN’s initial calls to both sides were unsuccessful.

Rogers TV London will be broadcasting Game 6 live tonight from the Western Fair in London.

Doesn’t Cogeco Usually broadcast the Maroons games? Would this possibly be a broadcasting issue between the two media companies?
