Chatham’s Luke Allin has earned a major honour in his freshman season of OUA basketball at Wilfrid Laurier University, as the UCC graduate was named to the OUA All-Rookie Team.

Allin averaged 7.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this season with the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks while starting 18 of Laurier’s 20 games.

The six-foot-seven Allin finished second overall in the OUA West conference in three point shooting efficiency hitting 49.3 percent of his attempts.

In November, Allin was named the Wilfrid Laurier Athlete of the Week after the arts major scored a season high 23-points in a win over the Toronto Varsity Blues, including going a perfect 7-for-7 from behind the 3-point arch.

Allin is the most recent Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks player to be named to the OUA’s All-Rookie team, as the school has had at least one member of their roster named to the All-Rookie roster for 12 consecutive seasons. This streak includes Luke Allin’s brother Max Allin, who was named to the OUA West All-Rookie team in 2009-2010.

I told Luke last summer I would attend his games to see him on the bench. I guess he didn’t want me to go.
