Breanne Nicholas helped Canada’s Maple Leafs women’s rugby team to the Cup title at the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens Invitational in Hong Kong, China this week.

Canada and Nicholas, a Blenheim resident who plays for the Western University Mustangs, went undefeated in the tournament.

On day one, Canada defeated Samoa 31-7, Mexico 66-0, and Argentina 42-0.

On day two, Canada advanced with a 24-7 win over China, before reaching the finals with a 17-12 victory against the Netherlands.

Facing Japan in the final, Canada again pulled off the win, this time by a 24-12 margin.

This is the third time Nicholas has won a title with Canada, including at the 2013 U20 Nations Cup and the 2014 FISU Championships. She also represented Canada in 2014 at the Can-Am Series where she was named Player of the Series.
