The Wallaceburg Lakers handed out their annual awards Saturday night in Wallaceburg. The Lakers who finished out of the playoffs this season honoured their top players at the banquet.

Captain Lucais Meyseks, who is one of Wallaceburg’s graduating players this season took home the MVP and Top Scorer honours. Meyskens who missed a portion of the season with an injury had 9 goals and 13 assists for 22 points in 26 games.

Jacob Theoret was named the teams Best Defenseman. Theoret of Sarnia has two seasons of eligibility remaining. The second year Laker who stands six-foot-two had 2 goals and 7 assists this season.

The Rookie of the Year for the Wallaceburg Lakers was Chatham’s Brendan Ritchie. Ritchie, the Lakers’ 16-year-old player joined the club after playing ‘AAA’ for the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs last season. He had 7 goals and 4 assists playing in 39 games.

Other award winners for the Wallaceburg Lakers were Josh Berkvens (Most Improved), Tyler Shaw (Most Sportsmanlike), Connor Johnston (Tristan Carswell Memorial Head and Soul Award), Mike Brown (Best Defensive Forward), and Evan Weidenback (Most Dedicated).
