Wallaceburg Swimmers Win OFSAA Bronze
The Junio Girls Medley Relay team of Chelsey Johnson (backstroke), Alyssa Wadsworth (breaststroke), Megan Maxim (butterfly), and Tallie LaPrise (freestyle) placed second in the morning prelims, advancing to the afternoon A finals. In one of the tightest races of the day, two one hundredths of a second separating second place and third place, the Wallaceburg District Secondary School Tartans girls earned an OFSAA bronze.
The rest of Wallaceburg’s swimming contingent also had a spectacular day. Every swimmer representing WDSS made an afternoon final on Day 1 of the OFSAA swimming championships.
Kristopher Chauvin placed 14th in the Junior boys 50m freestyle. This put him racing in a B final just 0.8 seconds out of the A final and 8th place. He continued to perform in the to place 6th in the B final and 14th overall.
Megan Maxim placed 15th in the Junior girls 50m butterfly. She earned a trip to the B final, just 1 second shy of the A final. Megan improved her morning qualifying time to take 7th in the B final and 15th in the province.
Wallaceburg’s swimmers continue at the OFSAA championships Wednesday.
