Paul Coffey To Speak In Dresden
The annual event, honouring Dresden’s top athletes will take place April 18 at Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden, beginning at 6pm.
Paul Coffey played 21 seasons in the NHL, winning the James Norris Trophy as the NHL’s top defenseman three times. An 8 times NHL first or second team all-star, Coffey, who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004, has won four Stanley Cups.
Scoring 1531 career points, Coffey, who played for the Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Chicago Blackhawks, Hartford Whalers, Carolina Hurricanes, Philadelphia Flyers, and Boston Bruins in his career, sits second all-time in defenseman scoring.
Being inducted into the Dresden Sports Hall of Fame this year will be Jim Ritchie in the athlete division, Dennis Lindssay (legend), Dresden Minor Hockey Moms (builder), and 1968-1970 Dresden Midgets (team).
Jim Ritchie played in the OHL before completing a seven year professional career, spanning from the ECHL, to a stop with the Colonial League’s Chatham Wheels.
