Organizers for Chatham-Kent’s Kraft Hockeyville campaign are hosting a “Bash In The Barn” at Chatham’s Memorial Arena today, leading up to the announcement of the winner of an NHL preseason hockey game at 7pm.

A hockey skills competition and clinic will run from 3:30-5:15 p.m.

The event begins at 1pm at Memorial Arena with a 3-on-3 road hockey tournament, running until 3pm. Registration for the tournament begins at 12:30pm. From 3:30-5:15pm, organizers will be hosting a skills competition, followed by a hockey clinic.

The day will also include a petting zoo and horse rides, as well as free snow cones and cotton candy for all in attendance between 1-4pm. The snow cones and cotton candy will be given to anyone bring a box of Kraft Dinner, to be donated to Outreach for Hunger.

Throughout the day there will be entertainment by local music artists including Brooklyn Roebuck, Face 4 Radio, and The Chasers.

Only 3500 people will be admitted into Chatham’s Memorial Arena for the announcement on Hockey Night in Canada between 6pm and 7pm.

Organizers are hoping an even larger event will be coming to Memorial Arena in the form of an NHL preseason game following Friday’s announcement. Chatham’s Kraft Hockeyville bid has already secured $100,000 in arena upgrades for Memorial Arena.
