It wasn’t the start on the floor the Wallaceburg Thrashers wanted, but the town of Wallaceburg was buzzing Saturday with the long awaited debut of the community’s new Senior B Lacrosse team.

Facing the Six Nations Rivermen, Wallaceburg dropped a close 10-7 decision.

Wallaceburg fell behind 3-1 in the first period. David Veitch scored the first goal in franchise history midway through the period. Veitch is a former Wallaceburg Red Devils player from Windsor, Ontario, who also has played NCAA lacrosse for Mars Hill.

After allowing two more goals to open the second period, Wallaceburg’s offense started to click with local Reid Miller scoring, followed up by goals from Winter Dockstator, and Chadd Murphy.

In the third period, Murphy scored his second of the game, while Kyle O’Donnell and Kyle Childerhose also got on the board. Murphy finished the night with two goals and two assists.

Wallaceburg is now off until May 9 when they travel to face the Ennismore James Gang, and MAy 10 when they play the Brooklin Merchants on the road.
