Locals Qualify For Jamieson Tour
The 2015 Tour season will kick off June 27 at Blenheim Community Golf Club.
Ninety two golfers teed off vying for approximately 65 tour positions at the qualifier, to join the 46 players who earned exemptions last season.
Qualifying medalist scores were the lowest in tour history. Low qualifier in Junior Boys was Thomas DeMarco with a two under 68. Medalist in Collegiate men division was Alex Zappio carding an identical 68. The top Junior Girl was Megan Schauer posting an 81.
Players qualifying needed to score a 90 in Junior Boys, 95 in Junior Girls, and 79 in collegiate men. All collegiate women were exempt.
Chatham’s Brooke MacKinnon finished second in the Junior girls event, shooting an 83, only two shots off the leader.
On the boy’s side, Trent Scaman was the top Junior boys qualifier from Chatham-Kent. The Maple City member shot a 79, good for 5th.
In total, more than a dozen Chatham-Kent golfers qualified for the Tour.
The tournament will make two Chatham-Kent stops this season, June 27 in Blenheim, and July 29 at Ridgetown.
