Raaymakers Invited To Canada’s U18 Camp
Raaymakers, who played last season for the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, is one of only 8 goaltenders invited to the selection camp.
Canada’s U18 National Team is the second step in Canada’s Program of Excellence, following Canada’s U17 World Hockey Challenge, which Raaymakers attended camp, but was not a selection for last season. Canada’s U18 team plays at the U18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup and at the IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship.
Last season with the Soo Greyhounds, Raaymakers, who was the 33rd overall selection of the Greyhounds in the 2014 OHL draft, played 25 games, posting a 3.05 GAA and .898 save percentage in the regular season, along with a 14-7 record, and 2 shutouts.
In the postseason, Raaymakers played only two relief periods, stopping all shots he faced.
A former Chatham-Kent Cyclones netminder, Raaymakers is again slated to back up NHL pick Brandon Halverson next season in Sault Ste. Marie.
