UCC Lancers Play Ball At Comerica Park

The UCC Lancers baseball team had a day to remember Wednesday, stepping on to the field at Comerica Park, home of the MLB’s Detroit Tigers, for a double header of their own.

UCC organized the exhibition double header against the Sarnia St. Patrick’s Fighting Irish, with players from Tecumseh L’Essor also appearing on each roster.

In their first season of LKSSAA baseball competition, UCC played 5 regular season games this season, finishing with a 2-3 record.

In their only regular season meeting against Sarnia St. Patrick’s this season, the Lancers fell 5-2.

Organized by Lancers head coach Jim Tengelis, the afternoon games also featured a ceremonial first pitch by former Detroit Tigers Dave Rozema, and other events throughout the day.

The St. Clair Saints won the LKSSAA baseball championship this season, defeating the LCCVI Lancers 8-4 last week.
