Chatham Running Store To Close
The running shoe and apparel store located on King Street in Downtown Chatham opened their doors in 2012, and have since helped Chatham-Kent’s running community grow by starting learn to run groups, organizing runs several times each week, and promoting local races.
“When I first came to town it was pretty rare to see people running, especially in the morning,” said Kim Wood, owner of Downtown Chatham’s running shoe and apparel store, Up and Running in a previous interview with CKSN.
“Now there is always someone out running. It’s become less about having to be a fast runner. I think people are starting to realize, they can do this too.”
Kim Wood and her husband Matt Wood have been operated Up & Running since it’s inception, along with a group of employees and friends.
The store, which formally announced their future this week on social media will be offering discounts on all in stock materials from now until they close on July 31.
“Well runners, it is with mixed emotions that we will be officially closing our doors on July 31st,” read the store’s Facebook post. “It’s been a great ride and amazing to see so many runners in and around Chatham-Kent! We truly thank you for your support and hope to see you out on the roads.”
“We could use your help one more time though, we have a bunch of great inventory we need to get rid of! All clothing and accessories are now 75% off, and all old model shoes are $50. Brand new models of shoes are 25% off as well. Stop by and load up on some amazing gear at huge discounts!”
