Local Sports Briefs: June 22

- The Wallaceburg Red Devils wrapped up their regular season on a three game winning streak with a 13-6 win over the Pt. Edward Pacers in Jr B Lacrosse action. Corey Lucier and Derrick Hastings each had three goals. The Red Devils finished second in the Far West Division with a 9-10-1 record.
- In Sr B Lacrosse the Wallaceburg Thrashers suffered two losses on the weekend including a 13-6 loss to Brooklyn yesterday and an 8-3 loss to Six Nations on Saturday.
- The Wallaceburg Warriors got back on the winning track yesterday as they beat Inwood 14-12 in Lambton-Kent Ladies Fastball action. Nikki Myers was the winning pitcher and she helped her own cause at the plate with a triple and a single.
- The Kent Havoc also found the winning touch in Men’s B Division Rugby play as they beat the Stratford Black Swans 34-5.
- In soccer action Kailey Houston picked up the shut-out as the Chatham Eagles beat Nairn 2-0 in Premier Division play. The Chatham Storm beat St Thomas 3-2 in WOSL men’s play while in Second Division men’s play the Chatham Attack played to a 1-1 draw with London Scottish
- Dale Glassford continued his dominance at South Buxton Raceway as he won his fifth Late Model Feature in a row. Glassford took the checker flag in the Don Hendricks Memorial Race. Other winners at South Buxton included Joel Dick winning his fourth Modified Feature, Cale Johns winning his second Bomber Feature, Erin Vandieviere taking the checker flag in the Sports Stock Feature and Rob Quick winning the Mini Mod Feature.
- In harness racing action, veteran horseman Ormond Farnsworth was enshrined into the Dresden Raceway Hall of Fame. “Farny” is a long-time owner, driver and trainer at Dresden Raceway. Tyler Borth led the way on the track with four wins while Merlin’s Greg Drew notched two victories.
