Local Sports Briefs: June 29, 2015

- Clachan’s Travis Konecny was drafted 24th overall, as a first round pick to the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Konecny’s 24th selection was dealt to Philadelphia just moments before by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
- The Six Nations Rebels have a two games to none lead in their Jr B Lacrosse Series with the Wallaceburg Red Devils. The Rebels beat the Red Devils 19-6 on Friday night and 12-1 yesterday. Six Nations can wrap up the series with a win Friday night in Hagarsville.
- The CK Cougars were at home all weekend…the Bantam Cougars beat Hamilton 48-4. Johnathan Cartier and Darion Bacik each had two TD’s for the Cougars.
- Guelph beat the Junior Varsity Cougars 45-6. David Leclair scored the lone Touchdown for Chatham-Kent.
- Halton edged out the Sr. Cougars 8-7 on Saturday in torrential rain conditions.
- In Soccer action..Sarnia A team beat the Chatham Express 3-1. Adam DaSilva scored the lone goal for Chatham.
- In Rugby play Norfolk beat the Chatham-Kent Havoc 35-7 on the weekend.
- South Buxton Raceway rained out
- Nick Steward scored five wins at Dresden Raceway yesterday in front of about 650 people who bet a total handle of $15,986.
