Tough Challenge Ahead For Red Devils
Anything can happen in the playoffs. Getting there is sometimes the most important step.
The eighth-seed Wallaceburg Red Devils are hoping that stays true in their opening round playoff match-up against the number one ranked Six Nations Rebels.
The Red Devils open the post-season on the road tonight (June 26) in a best-of-five series. Game time is 8 pm from the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Hagersville.
The Rebels are looking for their fifth consecutive national junior `B` championship, laying claim to the Founders Cup in each of the last four years. The Rebels lost only one game this season, an 11-7 loss to Niagara earlier this month.
Wallaceburg, meanwhile, chipped away at the tail end of the year, winning 5 of their last 6 games of the regular season to earn a playoff berth. The argument could be made that Wallaceburg has been in playoff mode all month and are up to the challenge. The Devils will rely on sniper Corey Lucier and his 90 points from the regular season, in hopes of continued offensive dominance.
The first home game of the series goes this Sunday at 3pm from Wallaceburg`s Memorial Arena.
