Carleton, Canada Finish Eighth

Chatham’s Bridget Carleton scored a team high 12-points for Team Canada in a classification game loss to China Sunday, leaving Canada as the eighth place finisher at the U19 FIBA World Basketball Championships in Russia.

Carleton was 6-for-23 in field goal shooting, playing a team high 28:44 minutes and picking up 5 rebounds in the 67-47 loss.

Canada fell to the USA in the quarter finals, before dropping a 70-64 contest to Belgium in a classification game Saturday. Carleton had 20-points in the loss.

Overall, Carleton led all Canadian scorers in the tournament averaging 13.9 points-per-game. She finished with 5.9 rebounds per game.

Carleton, a John McGregor Secondary School graduate, will attend Iowa State University this fall where she’ll place NCAA Division I basketball.
