Connor Wright and Darion Bacik, who plays for the Chatham-Kent Cougars Bantam football team is the EnviroClean Car & Dog Wash Chatham-Kent Cougars Player of the Week for the Week ending July 1.

Enviro-Clean-Car-Dog-WashThe Bantam Cougars defeated the Hamilton Hurricanes 48-4, largely in part to the performances of Wright and Bacik.

Connor Wright might have had his best day as a Cougar. He contributed on offense, defense, and specials. Wright made 15 tackles, 1 interception, and recovered a fumble on the defensive side of the ball. He also ran for a 45 yard touchdown, and he had 3 carries at fullback for 24 yards.

“Connor was a dominant today. Connor was the glue to the defense,” said Cougars president Sel Jordan of the Bantam player.

Darion Bacik, who moved up from Peewee, seemed to be extra motivated this week to show that he belonged. Darion rushed for 3 TDs on 11 carries and 86 yards. Darion also contributed as a TE and made some key blocks for the offense. Bacik was also on defense where he made 5 tackles.

The Bantam Chatham-Kent Cougars will next travel to face the Twin Cities Predators July 5 at 4pm.
