Great Lake Erie Salmon & Pickerel Hunt A Success
On July 12, Great Lake Erie Salmon & Pickerel Hunt, sponsored by The Blenheim Royal Canadian Legion, wrapped up it 35th Annual Tournament this weekend. Anglers boarded their vessels and zipped out on to the beautiful Lake Erie to try their luck on one of the best sport fishing lakes in Canada.
Anglers started tossing out lines on June 27, hoping to catch “The Big One”. Andrew Hegedus of Norwich snagged the Grand Prize Pickerel, 10.95lb. 29.5in . While, Jan Nissen from Merlin was able to bring home a 9.13lb. 29.5in.; Grand Prize in the Salmon category.
On the junior side of things, Lucas Fancy from Charing Cross landed the largest Salmon, 6.81lb.. Kailem Sobry from Shrewsbury caught a nice dinner, as well as first place in the Pickerel board with a catch of 10.04lb. 28.75 in.
Phong Pham of London reeled in a 13.08lb. 31.25 in. Sheephead.
Over $12,000 in cash and prizes were handed out. Anglers were able to enter their names in a draw for a brand new boat! The lucky winner of this prize was Jen Motycka from Blenheim. As well, daily draws were awarded to Stu Ferren, Craig Hall, Brian SchoolCraft and many more!
