Hockey Canada Upholds OHF Decision: No Tecumseh Team
It’s offiicial. The Tecumseh Chiefs will not see Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ hockey in 2015-16.
This week Hockey Canada upheld the decision by the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) – overturning the Ontario Hockey Association’s (OHA) initial ruling to grant an expansion team to Tecumseh. The Chiefs were slated to open play in the junior ‘C’ loop this fall.
The OHA made a statement saying they are hopeful but not optimistic that the league will reconsider the team. That doesn’t seem likely in the immediate future.
Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ teams recently voted down the expansion team in an appeal to the initial OHA decision.
Tecumseh executives plan to continue working towards a Junior ‘C’ team in Tecumseh.
