Local Sports Briefs: July 14, 2015
- Hockey Canada has upheld the Ontario Hockey Federations decision to not allow Tecumseh a franchise in the Great Lakes Jr C loop. Earlier this year the Great Lakes Jr C Hockey League voted 5-4 against allowing Tecumseh into the league. The Ontario Hockey association then overturned their decision only to be over ruled by the OHF. Owners of the Tecumseh team are in Toronto with OHA officials to figure out the next step.
- Ridgetown’s Chris von Martels will be competing at the Pan Am games in Toronto today in search of his second medal of the games. von Martels picked up a silver in the team dressage event over the weekend.
- Chatham’s Bridget Carleton hit for 10 points as Canada dropped a 95-40 game to the USA in FIBA under 19 Women’s Basketball exhibition play.
- Corunna beat the Wallaceburg Warriors women’s fastball team 10-4 last night in Lambton-Kent Women’s Fastball play. Taryn Charboneau had a triple for the Warriors and Amy Hull was tagged the loss.
- The Chatham Attack pounded North London 9-0 in weekend soccer play. Giovani Magliaro scored three times for the Attack who are 9-0-1 in Western Ontario Soccer play.
