  • Dresden’s Trevor Thompson has received more accolades. Thompson who works for FOX Sports Network in Detroit has received the Ty Tyson Award for broadcasting excellence. The award is given out by the Detroit Sports Broadcaster’s Association. Thompson has won two Emmy Awards.
  • Ridgetown’s Chris von Martels picked up his second medal of the Pan Am Games in Toronto. Von Martels rode his horse Zilverstar, to a bronze medal in the individual dressage event. The pair scored a silver in team dressage on the weekend.
  • Bridget Carleton scored 22 points to lead Canada to a 76-70 win over Australia in exhibition play. Carleton and Canada are tuning up for the FIBA under 19 Women’s World Basketball Championships.
  • Jordan Durston had a goal and four assists to help the Six Nations Arrows beat the Burlington Chiefs 11-6 and sweep the series four straight. The Arrows move onto the next round of the playoffs in Ontario Junior A Lacrosse action.
  • Crawford McKinlay of Ridgetown fired an even par 71 in the first round of the Ontario Men’s Amateur Golf Championship. McKinlay is tied for 15th at the event being held at the Peterborough Golf and Country Club.
  • The Charity Golf Gala was recently held in Windsor to support three local girls who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis. Steve Tooshkenig of Walpole Island organized the event with proceeds going to Nancy St Denis as well as Jersey and Braelyn Blackbird. The event raised $2,500 for each girl.
