Local Sports Briefs: July 17, 2015
- Dresden Raceway has a special card of harness racing action set for this Friday night with a 5PM post time. The special card is to make up for the opening day that was lost after the rain made the track too dangerous to race. The track will be offering its usual draws and giveaways as well as promoting people to come to the track for a family dinner with half price hot dogs.
- Crawford McKinlay of Ridgetown fired a 4 over 75 in the second round of the Ontario Men’s Amateur Golf Championship. McKinlay is tied for 20th place at the tourney being held at the Peterborough Golf and Country Club.
- The Jamieson Golf Tour saw three local golfers hit the top three spots. Julia Moretto of Chatham fired an 88 for a third place finish in Jr. Girls, Laura Martin shot an 87 for a second place finish in the Collegiate Ladies Division while Kyle Wicks was third in the Collegiate Men’s Division after carding a 74.
- The Sarnia Cravins beat the Wallaceburg Warriors 6-0 in Lambton-Kent Ladies Fastball action last night. Nikki Myers took the loss for the Warriors.
- There will be a slo-pitch reunion in Thamesville this weekend as the Thamesville Mets and Thamesville Longshots will renew their rivalry in an exhibition game. Things get underway at 2:00p.m. at Ferguson Park.
