Local Sports Briefs: July 2, 2015
- Ontario Sire Stakes three-year-old trotting fillies invaded Dresden Raceway yesterday. CINCINNATI MISS who is owned by Doug McIntosh of Wheatley won her division in 1:58.2 while JUDY THE BEAUTY who is owned by Randy Zhok of Dover Centre finished second in her OSS Race. Over 1,000 people celebrated Canada Day at Dresden Raceway with a handle of almost $27,000.
- Madison Broad of Wallaceburg is in Nepean today for the Ontario Long Course Provincial Swimming Championships. The Wallaceburg swimmer has already qualified for the Canadian Age Group Championships and the Canadian Senior Championships later this summer in Quebec.
- Brendan Van Herk of the Blenheim Blast will also be competing today in Nepean. Van Herk has already qualified for the Canadian Age Group Championships as well.
- Crawford McKinlay of Ridgetown was the winner of the Jamieson Golf Tour’s opening tourney at the Essex Golf and Country Club. McKinley tied with two other golfers after firing -1 under 70 but won the three man playoff.
