MacKinnon Wins On Jamieson Tour

Days after one Chatham-Kent product won on the Jamieson Junior Golf Tour for the first time, another local athlete took their first title, as Chatham’s Brooke MacKinnon won the Junior Girls Division at Ridgetown Golf Club Wednesday.

The Maple City member, MacKinnon shot a 77, edging Roseland’s Melanie Burgess by two strokes.

The Ridgetown event also served as the first leg of the Widdifield Cup with the second and final round to be played Thursday at Kingsville. The Widdifield Cup is named in honour of Eric Widdifield who founded the tour and directed it for 22 years.

In the Junior Boys division Marcus Slipchuk of Pointe West became the first two time winner this season carding a two under 70, two better than Graham Byrne of Pointe West and Andrew Reaume of Blenheim.

In the Collegiate Men’s Division Michigan Wolverine Bryce Evon continued his domination with a winning score of 5 under 67. Chatham’s Kyle Wicks of St. Clair College, and Ridgetown’s Crawford McKinlay of the Wayne State Warriors finished tied for second with 3 under 69’s.

Emily Stadder who plays for the University of Windsor earned her second victory of the year with a 5 over 77 edging Sara Holland of the University of Western Ontario and Victoria Ducharme of St. Clair College by a single stroke.
