Red Devils Season Ends In Sweep
A promising season for the Wallaceburg Red Devils ended in a disappointing loss to the Six Nations Rebels 17-4 on Friday night.
The Rebels have won their league and the pinnacle of Junior “B” Lacrosse, The Founders Cup, four years in a row. The Rebels high-powered offense was too much for the Red Devils. After a pretty even first period, The Rebels had an offensive explosion scoring eleven goals. An even third period closed the series and the Rebels move on into the second round against the Windsor Clippers in the semi-finals.
Corey Lucier led offensively with three assists, followed by Evan Mathany and Kyle Dawson both with one goal and one assist. Parker Gilhuly and Derrick Hastings both found twine while Matt Cousins and Emily VanDamme added helpers. Six Nations’ Layne Smith found the net four times while Chayton King added one goal and four assists. Danton Miller led the charge, scoring twice and adding four assists to help his team secure the win.
The Lacrosse juggernaut Six Nations ended the regular season 19-1, out scoring their opponents 269-114.
