Ridgetown Sodbuster Run Is Huge Success
The inaugural University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus 5K Sod Buster Run and Walk was a huge success on Sunday (July 12), fundraising nearly $20,000.
A total of 243 local runners participated in the W.R.A.C.E. chip timed event, supporting the new crop research centre at the Ridgetown campus.
The best time was recorded by Markham’s Greg Hitchon who ran the five kilometres in a time of 19 minutes and 9 seconds. Wallaceburg’s cyborg Joe Perry finished just fifteen seconds later with a time of 19:26. Rounding out the top ten times were Colin Goudreau of Chatham (19:29), Travis Goron of Wheatley (19:34), Adam West of Ridgetown (19:35), Blenheim’s Kevin Montgomery (20:17) and Eric Montgomery (20:34), Guelph’s Sarah Kleemola (20:42), Rob Driessen of Blenheim (21:17) and Arielle Aitkin-Guignard of St. Thomas (21:27).
