Stephanie McKenney could hustle a hustler when it comes to darts. McKenney, who is going into tenth grade at Wallaceburg District Secondary School, doesn’t even have her licence yet but somehow she manages to excel at the game of darts, even at such a high level.

“I grew up playing darts. I knew since kindergarten that darts was going to be a big part of my life. I really started getting serious 6 years ago when I joined a league,” spoke McKenney about her humble beginnings, “Darts was a family game. Playing against my family helped me improve my game, along with dart etiquette, which made me the player I am today.”

Stephanie recently participated in Nationals held in St. Catherines, where she grabbed gold in doubles and slid away with a silver in singles.

“”I shot some of my best games at Nationals. My partner and I are both pretty skilled throwers, so we really worked well together,” said Stephanie, “Overall, it was a great experience and I plan on making Provincials and Nationals next year .”

After impressive play on the national stage, McKenney entered the the women’s Canadian Open. She shared 9th place at the end of the tournament and walked away with with her head held high.

“It was tough because I was never able to play against people my age, just adults. I ended up tied for 9th; which is pretty good for my first time at Nationals,” she added.

Stephanie would like to thank the fine folks at Ogie’s Lift Truck for their continued support, as well, she’d like to thank her friends and family for always being there for her.

Keep your eyes and ears open for more from this dart phenom. She will be heading to Vancouver next year for Nations and could use some assistance to help her fulfill her life long dream of becoming the Junior Champion.
